This is a short aptitude quiz designed to gauge your Xactimate® skill level, your knowledge of construction and restoration industry practices, your written communication skills, and to see how well you follow written instructions. To take the quiz, please complete steps 1 through 3 outlined below.
Recreate this “Example Reconstruction Estimate” exactly as it is written. The “tree,” Sketch, pricing, totals, report format, and all other areas of your recreated estimate should match the example estimate as closely as possible. The only area of exception should be the “Estimator” field where we ask that you instead list your own name and contact info. When you are done recreating the estimate, save it as a PDF titled ‘yourlastname_estimate.pdf’ (replace ‘yourlastname’ with your actual last name). You will email this PDF to us in step 3.
Now, take the recreated estimate you just wrote and improve it by adding line items you believe are missing or were overlooked by the original estimator. Highlight any line items you add by putting them in bold print, and be sure to add F9 notes on these line items justifying why you added them. When crafting your F9 notes, assume that your audience will be the original estimator whose estimate you are improving. What explanations will you give him/her as to why you are adding the line items you are adding? How will you convince him/her that all of these line items are necessary? When you are done improving the estimate, save it as a PDF titled ‘yourlastname_supplement.pdf’ (replace ‘yourlastname’ with your actual last name). You will email this PDF to us in step 3.
